I am immensely grateful for your piece on Splitting Hairs as I can't imagine a more meditative state for me than gently rocking my newborn granddaughter as she sleeps in the quiet of her nursery with the lights dimmed and nothing for me to do but stare down at her little sleeping face. It reminds me of walking meditation through the labyrinth at Washington National Cathedral. But then I worry, is meditating by rocking this beloved child REAL meditation? or as you say, meditative rocking? After years of feeling inadequate when it comes to meditation, you give me hope. Thank you. Celia
Lovely - feel my insides soften reading this - meditative reading ;)
Hi Marsha! I'm so glad it had this effect. Thanks for being here and thanks for reading.
Really happy to see theLaundry - intersection of Buddhism and every day life is what draws me to meditation and meditative practices.
“Rocking chair moments. Moments of attention, repetition and simplicity.” 🙏🏼💙
Aren’t these moments just so rich and uncomplicated? 🍯

Celia! I feel in such kindred company with you. A fellow meditative-rocking practitioner. 😁
Thank you for painting this beautiful image of time spent with your granddaughter. Attention makes it so.
