Just imagining Ruby smiling and waving from the cart makes me smile and opens my heart. It’s these small moments of connection that can make our days so much brighter. Thank you for sharing these moments with us, Adreanna

What a beautiful post. Grocery shopping with little ones was one of my biggest joys when my girls were little (I still love it now that they are 8 and 6 though, it’s just beautiful in a new way). The fanfare has faded for my LOs, but it’s a beautiful experience being on the other side now connecting and sharing resonant joy with other parents.

Thanks for this narrative about the abundance and intentional joy that can be found there in moments like this. Even when we have someone who we must give constant attention, there is grace and awe and joy.

So beautiful! I would be one of those grateful subjects if Queen Ruby graced me with a wave.

As usual, I so appreciate your post and I too love your thought about the weather. I work with graduate students, many studying in the US for the first time and find NYC to be very intimidating. I remind them that there are two things NYers all talk about — the subway and the weather - and say these are the great equalizers. I tell them that commenting on the rain is the easiest way to bridge the gap and while I give them a 30 second lesson on NY sarcasm, I remind them that we are all connected in this insane metropolis and they belong here as much as anyone. I didn’t realize that I was sharing a version of a loving kindness practice but now that you mention it? The same feeling of spaciousness and gratitude always follows me after these conversations. Thank you for this wonderful reminder. ❤️
